Graveside funeral services for Letha Craig Meadows, 95, of Ochlocknee, Ga., are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 16, 2021, in Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery, Ochlocknee, Ga., with Rev. Jimmy Ausburn officiating. Mrs. Meadows passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 13, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Meadows was born on October 14, 1926, in Shinnston, West Virginia to the late William Linzy Craig and Vica Coen Craig. On February 28, 1949, she married William Vernon Meadows, Sr. who preceded her in death on May 20, 2017. She was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church in Ochlocknee, Ga., and enjoyed attending church with her family and her Sunday School Class.
She retired from Ithaca in Cairo. Her life was devoted to her church and her family. She always looked forward to her children, grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren coming to see her and always welcomed them with open arms, hugs, smiles and didn’t mind sharing her thoughts on things with them. She especially loved everyone getting together at special times and enjoyed watching her family enjoy each other’s company.
Survivors include: her children, Gary Meadows, Ochlocknee, Ga., John Meadows (Annette), Hazen, Ark., Sheila Harrison (Dixon), Whigham, Ga., Shirley Carlton (Donnie), Bainbridge, Ga., Sharon Meadows, Washington State, Linzy Meadows, Sr., Ochlocknee, Ga., Sue Kirkman (Kevin), Gilbert, Ariz., Randall Meadows (Debby), Ochlocknee, Ga., Keith Meadows (Sandra) Ochlocknee, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Meadows, Cairo, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, William Frank Craig; sisters-in-law, Doris Morey and Genova Carlton; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; son, Vernon Meadows, Jr.; grandson-in-law, Lance McCaw; and sisters, Dolly Dell, Edna Halligan, Betty Mixon Morley, Carrie Lee Craig.
The family extends their appreciation to Bethany Hospice and her special nurse Alyssa who were so helpful and caring during this time.
