Pearl Stamps Ausburn, age 88, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021, at her home in Reno, Georgia. Service for Mrs. Ausburn will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 23, at Reno Baptist Church, 159 Pine Hill Road, Cairo (Reno Community), Georgia. Rev. James Ausburn to officiate. Interment will follow in Cairo City Cemetery. Josh Ausburn, Derek Edwards, Shane Ward, David Ward, Ray Gainey and Yancy Maxwell will serve as pallbearers. Jimmy Green, Jimmy Hammett, Mark Bryant, Robert Maxwell, Ivy Ausburn, DeWayne Ausburn, Anderson Ausburn, Charles Burgess, and Norman Kincaid will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 10:00.
Pearl Stamps was born January 19, 1933, in Calhoun County, Georgia, to Henry Stamps and Mamie Doyle Jones Stamps. The family moved from Georgia to New York State. Pearl graduated from White Plains High School in White Plains, New York. On August 26, 1950, she married the love of her life, Luther William Ausburn. She and Luther have shared life together for 71 years. They exemplify what love and commitment means. Pearl worked at Washington Middle School lunchroom for many years. She was a member of Reno Baptist Church. Pearl Ausburn was a Godly, loving mother, wife, sister, and friend. Pearl loved to fish. She enjoyed gardening and canning. She loved to play card games, especially Rummy and Setback, and usually won. Pearl had a long life of service to her God and family. How blessed they were and how deeply she will be missed by her family and many friends.
Pearl Ausburn is survived by her husband, Luther William Ausburn of Reno; children, Barbara Sue Edwards and husband, Mervin of Reno, Sarah Ward of Monticello, Georgia, and James (Jimmy) Ausburn and wife, Bobbie of Cairo; grandchildren, Derek Edwards, Angela Barrineau, Sam Ward, Shannon Ward (Tabitha), Shane Ward (Tina), Suzanne Ward (John Smith), Laura Burgess (Charles), and Joshua Ausburn (Tammi); sisters, Henrietta Sutera and husband, Louis of Inman, South Carolina, Oretha Shafer and husband, Paul of Greensboro, Georgia, and Merle Golz (Pearl’s twin sister) of Brewster, New York; 18 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mamie Elizabeth Stamps Crozier, Ruby Ernestine Stamps Meile, and John Henry Stamps; son-in-law, Sammy Ward; and son, Benjamin Luther Ausburn.
