Dawn Yvette Salyers Miller, 60, of Valdosta, Georgia, formerly of Donalsonville, Georgia, passed away, Saturday, January 8, 2022, at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her loving family. Dawn was born March 10, 1960, in Orange Park, Florida to the late Barbara Ann McSpadden Salyers and Dorris Lee Salyers. Dawn was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She never has a cross word with anyone; also has a smile on her face and a kind word to speak to everyone she met. Dawn was a Registered Nurse having worked many years in hospitals in the South Georgia area. She worked in the Archbold Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit, Bainbridge Hospital Intensive Care Unit, Bainbridge Prison; was a hospice nurse for Wiregrass Hospice, Flint River Hospice and lastly, was Charge nurse for Miller County Hospital, Colquitt, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents; Maternal and Paternal grandparents.
She was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor in February of 2020. Facing her foe with grace, courage, and dignity, she spent the last 23 months battling this insidious disease. She underwent chemotherapy radiation and a gamma knife procedure at the Lewis, Hall, and Singletary Oncology Center in Thomasville, Ga. She achieved temporary relief, but the complications of the disease soon continued their inexorable march. The family wishes to thank the entire team at the oncology center in Thomasville, Ga., as well as the Regency Hospice Care team, for their caring professionalism and comforting compassion
She is survived by her loving husband of forty-three years, Andy Miller of Donalsonville, Georgia; a daughter, Autumn Miller and a son Travis Miller all of Valdosta, Georgia; two sisters, Terri S. Hendrickson, Jan S. Orr and a brother, Michael Salyers (Deana) all of Bay Minette, Alabama; sister-in-law, Marie Cobb of Valdosta, Georgia; along with many nieces and nephews.
