Talmadge Wayne Whiddon was born December 25, 1939, in Highland City, Fla., the son of Arthur Talmage Whiddon & Maggie Hendry Whiddon. Buddy grew up in Perry and lived in Brunswick, Ga., before moving to Decatur County in 1989. He was an active member of Climax Baptist Church.
Buddy was a truck driver by trade and a tinkerer by design. Idle time was never on his schedule, and some would even describe him as a workaholic. Buddy loved fishing (especially at Bird Lake) and listening to southern gospel music. His family, his church, and his church family were always a priority. Buddy left a legacy of love with five generations of those he loved so dearly.
Survivors include his wife, Lavern Suber Whiddon; his children, Suzanne Whiddon Harrison (Keith) of Climax, and Terry Suber (Julie), Cindy Osterberg (Charles), Mary Catherine Suber, and Wayne Suber, all of Bristol, Fla.; his daughter-in-law, June Whiddon; his grandchildren, Bradley, Anthony & Sarah Beth, Tonya & Brad, and Chad & Ashley; his great-grandchildren, Rosie Jean, Tate, Hannah, Payton, Lidabeth, Lily, Asher, and J.T.; his great-great-grandchild, Josie; his siblings, Wanda Bodiford of Perry, Fla., Frances English of Greenville, Fla., and Dahlia Blue (Ralph) also of Perry, Fla.; and a host of extended family. In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his wife, Lida Collins Whiddon; his son, Wayne Whiddon; and his siblings, Jean Pearson and Robert “Bob” Whiddon.
