James J. Blenker, 86, long-time resident of Scotia NY, born and raised in Buffalo N.Y., passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022, in Thomasville, Ga. with his family by his side.
Jim graduated with a Bachelors Degree in History and a Master in Social Work, both from the State University of New York at Albany, where he worked as a social worker for over 30 years. Jim served in the US Airforce prior to college.
Jim is preceded in death by his ex-wife, Mary Gates, his father, Joseph Blenker, his mother, Pauline Lehner, and his brother Robert. Jim is survived by his sons, David and wife Ruthie, Chris and wife Becki; his four grandchildren Jenna, Nicholas, Andrew, and Ashley; and his niece and nephews, Jeanne and Todd, Robert and wife Susan, William and wife Maureen, and Bruce and wife Bonnie.
Jim was well known in the Scotia area for enjoying a cup of coffee at McDonalds in the morning with friends and visiting the library. No one in his family had a need to question his love or doubt their importance as his was always the first card to arrive in the mail. Jim sacrificed for his family in countless ways, always with a smile of pride.
The family is planning a celebration of life ceremony on February 26. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Pemphigus & Pemphigoid Foundation, www.pemphigus.org.
