Thomas Lanier Lane, age 69, of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away Sunday, March 27th, 2022.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 30th, 2022, at First United Methodist Church with Stephen Webb and Melissa Traver officiating. Interment will be at Oak City Cemetery with Lee Birdsong, Lance Birdsong, Charles Wayne Griffin, Chuck Lynn, Wesley Powell, and Butch Yarbrough serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.

Lanier was born April 25th, 1952, in Colquitt, Georgia the son of James Douglas “Billy” Lane and June Mock Lane. He graduated from Bainbridge High School with the class of 1970. Lanier also attended ABAC in Tifton. He worked his entire life as a Farmer and everyone knew his love for John Deere. He also drove trucks for many local farms. Lanier was known for his handle, “Porkchop,” his big smile, and his giving heart. He liked to bird hunt, grill, and fellowship with his friends at the weekly local fish fry. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Epworth Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Dianne Lane; children, Josh Smith (Danielle) of Thomasville, GA, and Dia Stevenson (Jeremy) of Plainfield, IN; grandchildren, Rylee Stevenson and Levee Stevenson; sisters, Lynn Lane Birdsong (Billy) of Eldorendo, GA and Lori Lane Eubanks of Bainbridge, GA; his dog, Axel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lanier was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank the doctors and the staff at Memorial Hospital and Manor and the doctors and staff at Archbold Hospital; for the kind and compassionate care that they have given to Lanier over the last few years.
