Minnie Louise Howard Hunter, loving mother and friend, was born August 5, 1936, to the late Lucious Howard and the late, Rossie Gordon Howard in Climax, Georgia.
She passed away peacefully on March 5, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ulysses Hunter; sister, Annie Doris Pringley; brothers, Mathes and Matthew Howard; her maternal grandparents, Tom and Celest Gordon; and her paternal grandmother, Minnie Thomas.
Sister Hunter confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of the Lily Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Climax, Georgia, where she served many years.
Affectionately known as “Louise” by her friends and “Granny” by her grandchildren, Sister Hunter loved people and was loved by many people. She bore nine children, but through the years she received the love of many who called her “Momma” and “Granny” through her children. She loved her neighbors and always considered the well-being of others. Working untiringly to help family and neighbors, she was one who willing shared her resources, food, clothing and whatever she could afford.
Sister Hunter was a dedicated worker with strong morals and work ethics. After twenty-seven years of service as a dietician, she retired from Memorial Hospital. She was known for her excellent culinary skills and many looked forward to her delicious meals at the hospital. Beyond the workplace, Sister Hunter was often sort after for her skillful baking. Friends and family alike were all blessed to have enjoyed her wonderful cakes and pies. Aside from the gratification of cooking for her family, Sister Hunter also loved embroidery and quilting. One of her greatest pleasures was the beautiful plants and flowers she grew.
She leaves to cherish her memory nine children: Lillie Brown, Myra (Gary) Riles, Annette Martin, Annie Grace Hunter, Larry Hunter and Leonard Hunter all of Bainbridge, Georgia; Linda (Albert) Jones of Albany, Georgia; Elizabeth (Ronnie) Gaines of Kent, Washington; Marion (Timmy) Mitchell of River View, Florida; one half-sister, Lucy Lee, Fayetteville, North Carolina; and two step-daughters, Ester Patterson, Riviera Beach, Florida; Patty Rogers, Bainbridge, Georgia; Eighteen Grandchildren: Monica, Syreeta, Ryan, LaToya, Erin, Ebonee, Allyn, Deanza, Lynetta, Kendra, Lucious, Ricardo, Herbert, Andre’, Joseph, Kyra, Xavier, Terel; Thirteen Great Grandchildren: Lilly, Jacob, Lexi-Rose, Amora-Giani, Ian, Omar, Kennedy, Kenneth, Wyatt, Un’drez, Jalia, John Mark, Cameron, MacKenzee; Special Friend, Carrie Jeffery as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
