Mr. Willis Glen Tully, age 94, of Colquitt died Saturday, May 21, 2022, at his residence. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Colquitt United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Powell, Rev. Scott Stanfill, Rev. Charlie Lee Kyles, and Craig Tully officiating. Interment will follow at Colquitt City Cemetery with Military Honors with Adrian Rice, Blake Corley, Seth Corley, Lee Criswell, Dale Hamlin, and Hilton Lane serving as pall bearers. Visitation was Tuesday, May 24, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Colquitt Funeral Home.
Mr. Tully was of the Free Will Baptist Faith and was a member of the Walter C. Dancer Lodge #115. He served during WWII with the U.S. Navy and retired from Civil Service. He began at Turner Air Force Base in Albany and held several positions including heavy duty equipment mechanic foreman and planner and estimator of the Heavy Duty Equipment Maintenance Department. Over the years he received monetary awards for high quality performance of his duties and upon retirement was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for his 30 years and 11 months of service to the United States Government.
He was one of the original members of the Hardee’s breakfast crew and known for his historical knowledge. In his later years one of his passions was the upkeep of local cemeteries.
He is survived by four daughters, Glenda Carol Repasz of Forsyth, Ga., Ann (Hayes) Everett of Lynn Haven, Fla., Patti Elaine Corley of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Tammy Lyn Tully of Bainbridge, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, Ellen (Lee) Criswell, Adrian Rice, Carolyn (Dale) Hamlin, Rebecca Corley, John Thomas Rice, Blake Corley, Seth Corley, Leigh Everett, Shelley Spooner, and Austin (Kyle Satterfield) Spooner; eight great grandchildren, Alayna Criswell, Alyssa Sanchez, Kendall Rice, Emilee Criswell, Raegan Hamlin, Marley Hamlin, Maddox Hamlin, and Olivia Corley. Mr. Tully was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Carolyn Smith; parents, John Willis and Annie Folsom Knight Tully; two brothers, J.P. Tully and Joy Tully; and two sisters, Christine Harrison and Hilda Jenkins. Colquitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
