Katherine Pyles Elliott, age 71, passed away Sunday, August 7, surrounded by her loving family. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 11, at El Bethel Baptist Church, Whigham, Georgia. The Rev. Bob Knight will officiate. Katherine will be buried with her family in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Katherine was born August 30, 1950, in Cairo, Georgia, and raised in Whigham. Her parents, Elbert Laverne “Possum” Pyles and Juanita Judson Rehberg Pyles, have preceded her in death. Katherine was married to the love of her life, John Bruce Elliott. She and Bruce have been blessed with nearly 41 years together. Katherine was considered the backbone of her family group. She loved and cared for everyone. The grandchildren called her “Oma” and she loved hearing that word. She made wonderful homemade candies and was a gifted painter. Katherine was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church. She dearly loved her animals, Layla, Bella, Red, Simba, and Ziva. Katherine will be deeply missed by the family she loved so very much.
Katherine Elliott is survived by her husband, John Bruce Elliott of Ochlocknee, Georgia; son, Richard Bond of Whigham; siblings, Deveni Jacobs of Ochlocknee, James Pyles (Joyce) of Merritt Island, Florida, and Patricia (Elwood) McElhaney of Tallahassee, Florida; grandchildren, Amanda Rayburn, Riley Jo Brady (Brandon), Tiffany Bond, and Andrea Humphreys; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Deryck Pyles, daughter Toni Rayburn, and brother-in-law Don Jacobs.
