Dorothy Avery Brock of Waverly passed away Friday, September 23, 2022, at her residence. Dorothy was born October 19, 1931, in Decatur County, Georgia, to the late John and Ruby Avery; she moved to Waverly from Georgia in 1952. Dorothy was a retired citrus grader for 46 years for Waverly Growers before retiring. She liked watching movies and reading books before losing her sight. She was a true Gunsmoke and soap opera fan. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Brock in 2012; sisters, Francis Avery Williams (Husband – E.A. Buster) of Camillia, Ga., Reba Avery Brooks (Husband – J.W.) of Kingsport, Tenn.; Brother, Charles (C.D.) Daniel Avery (Wife – Martha) of Cairo, Ga.; and son-in-law, Larry White. She is survived by her daughter, Delores White of Waverly; son, Dennis Brock of Winter Haven; grandchildren, Aubrey W. Davis (Olivia), Leigh LaRue (Daniel), Julie Diane Sing (Andy), Christopher White, and Candace (Joseph) Davi; great-grandchildren, Hunter Brock Davis, Lillian Chrystine Davis, Landon LaRue, Addison LaRue, Avery Sing, Nathan Sing, Kendall Davi, and Palmer Davi; many nieces and nephews; and three cousins. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2022, at Waverly Baptist Church with Rev. David Durham officiating. A second funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Ivey Funeral Home in Bainbridge, Georgia with Rev. David Durham officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Brock Cemetery in Climax, Georgia.
