Sarah Agnes Smith was born June 14, 1927, in Plant City, FL, the daughter of Henry & Bessie Cloud Smith. She was a graduate of Brinson High School. Sarah married William J. Moore in 1947, and they made their home in Decatur County. Sarah worked for many years in school cafeterias for Elcan-King Elementary and West Bainbridge Elementary. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Sarah was devoted to her family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed being outdoors watching the grands and great-grands explore the world and “play like children ought to”. Cooking for others was her love language, and she always had a refrigerator stocked with Coca~Cola in case you stopped by. Sarah was always up for a good time, particularly when everyone gathered together. At Christmas, she pulled out all the stops and decorated every inch anticipating visits from family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Vickie Byers of Brinson; her grandchildren, Karen & Jay, Amanda & Brian, Sandy & Jeff, Jamey & Jessica, and Dusty & Cristen; her great-grandchildren, JJ, Sarah Beth, Brayden, Hunter, Conner, Caleb, Jace, Lexie, Blake, and Zac; her sisters, Ruby Barber, Nell Ingram, Betty Sue Yates, and Frances Kelly; and a large extended family.
In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Moore; her daughter, Sharon Haire; her siblings, Annie Donalson, Ruth Burnetti, Henry Smith, Jr., Robert Smith, Ray Smith, Tommy Smith, and Pete Smith; and her great-grandchildren, Brooke & Aubrey.
