Members of the Bainbridge Rotary Club met for their weekly meeting at the Kirbo Center on Tuesday. This marked the beginning of a new year for the club. Bo Jones, this year’s Rotary President, spoke about the history of how the Rotary Club was formed, both the international organization and the Bainbridge chapter. According to the excerpt Jones read, the club was originally known as the Rotation Club, which eventually became Rotary, and led to the wheel being chosen as the club symbol. As for the Bainbridge chapter, in 1936, local residents decided to form their own chapter after attending the Thomasville chapter. After discussing the club’s history, the discussion moved to Rotary’s present and future, with Gerard Kwilecki presenting the club’s financials and membership figures.
