Ernestine Lucille Call was born October 4, 1928, in Hurricane, W.V., the daughter of Pearl & May Wallace Call. In 1981, she moved to Southwest Georgia where she devoted over forty years to caring for patients at Seminole Manor. Ernestine was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.
Ernestine’s nature was to nurture so caregiving was a perfect fit. She loved every moment of her job, and often felt like “kin” to her patients. Supporting her family, which included more than a few, was icing on the cake. Cooking and cleaning were never a chore but usually a joy, evidence of her love language which was serving others. Nothing suited Ernestine better than having everyone, especially her grands & greats, gather at her house. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, and she made it known with an abundance of decorations filling the neighborhood with a festive spirit.
Survivors include her children, Janet Lou Meadows of Lake Seminole and Otis Leo Rice of W.V.; her grandchildren, Mary, Roy Lee & Heather, David, Martha, TD & Melissa, Jeremy & Heidi, and Kimberly & Robert; her great-grandchildren, Sawyer & Madison, Alex & Maddie, Abigail & Hunter, Savanna, TD, Jr., Sherman, Matthew, Shelby Lynn, Eden, Ethan, Courtney, Emily, Tristan, Harlee, and Cody; her great-great-grandchildren, Westlyn Grace, Dustin, Noelan, and Lane; and her sister, Launa Davis. In addition to her parents, Ernestine was preceded in death by her husbands, Junior Leo Rice and Dan Coovert; her son-in-law, Roy Meadows; her grandson-in-law, Lemuel Ross; and her eight sisters and three brothers.
