This weekend marked the end of Sio’s, at least for the rest of the summer, with Friday night being the last night, and Saturday the last brunch for owners Siobhan and JD Poole. Siobhan clarified that, should a buyer for the business not be found before Labor Day, Sio’s will open back up for business, with someone other than the couple running things. The couple previously announced the sale of Sio’s earlier this year, as they intend to move their family to Florida.
Friday night saw a crowd gather, with live music provided by Ronnie Randolph. Saturday’s brunch had Katie Floyd performing live as well.
The decision to close for the summer had been considered even before the sale announcement. “This is kind of a slow time for downtown anyway, during July,” Siobhan explained. “We’ve done the last couple of Julys, and last July we had said we would not be open for July of this year… It’s slow, so to us, it’s a good time to close down, do some really good cleaning and maintenance on the machines and the equipment, and any kind of remodeling we want to do.”
Sio’s is still currently for sale; interested buyers can reach out to the couple, though serious inquiries only are requested.
