Jean Ann Boyett Ouzts, age 79, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Memorial Manor surrounded by her loving family. Services for Mrs. Ouzts will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 2, at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home. Elder Thomas Bond and Rev. Wayne Josey will officiate. The service will conclude at the chapel. Jean Ann will be interred beside her husband in Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cadwell Chapel beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Jean Ann Boyett was born November 25, 1943, in Bainbridge, Georgia to James Edgar Boyett and Thetis Pauline Rackley Boyett. She graduated from Climax High School. Jean Ann married her soulmate, Gene A. Ouzts. She and Gene were blessed with 60 years of life together before his passing in 2021. They made their home in Climax, Georgia, where they were very involved with their community and their church. Jean Ann was a member of Community Primitive Baptist Church. Family was Jean Ann’s heartbeat. She adored her brother and sisters. She and Gene were blessed with a son, Deryl. Jean Ann was totally dedicated to working and helping in Deryl’s school, band program, 4-H programs, and in any activities in which he was involved. She loved to write and wrote the Climax News column of the Bainbridge Post- Searchlight for 20 years. Jean Ann was gifted in arts and crafts and loved making things with her sisters. A precious daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Jean Ann will be missed by those she loved so very much as well as her many, many friends.
Jean Ann Ouzts is survived by her son, James Deryl Ouzts; sisters, Rebecca Josey and Myra Seals (Lloyd) all of Climax; grandchildren, James Robert Ouzts of Thomasville, Georgia, Henry Lawrence Ouzts of Tallahassee, Florida, and Megan Grace Ouzts of Thomasville; sister-in-law, Nancy Boyett of Cedartown, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gene Ouzts, and her brother, Dr. Rayford Hill Boyett.
