This Saturday is shaping up to be a fairly busy one for Bainbridge, with three major events scheduled downtown. The festivities begin first thing in the morning with yoga at Chason Park, as well as some river clean-up, beginning at 9:00 AM. The Walk to End Alzheimers is also scheduled for the morning, with registration beginning at 9:00 AM. The opening ceremony will take place from 9:45-10:00 AM, followed by the Walk itself.
The big event of the day is River South, the annual music festival presented by Downtown Bainbridge. This year will see a completely new line-up of artists performing, most notably Georgia-native country artist Corey Smith. Event vendors and activities will begin at 12:00 PM. As for the musical acts, the schedule is as follows:
-Pickled Holler- 3:00 PM
-BoDean & the Poachers- 4:20 PM
-Evan Barber and the Dead Gamblers- 5:55 PM
-Jeb Gibson- 7:30 PM
-Corey Smith- 8:30 PM
Concurrent to all the other events, the Firehouse Art Gallery will also be hosting its Chalk Walk art contest, with contestants decorating squares of sidewalk with their own chalk art.
“The festival’s growing each year,” City Special Events Coordinator Randee Eubanks said of River South. In addition to the all-new line-up of artists, the festival has added several new sponsors this year. Besides the music and vendors, a big screen will be set up on the square for attendees to watch college football throughout the day as well.
“Fingers crossed, it’s looking like it’s gonna be a really beautiful day,” Eubanks said. “Come out and support all your downtown businesses and vendors, and come join the fun and festivities of River South!”
