Patricia Gail Hancock was born March 5, 1937, in Cairo, GA, the daughter of William & Essie Tilley Hancock. She was a graduate of Whigham High School. She married John Ulmer in 1956, and they made their home in Grady County. Gail attended Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

Gail was known for her skills in the kitchen, the garden, and at the sewing machine. She was a fantastic cook who delighted in serving her family and friends. Evidence of her love of the outdoors could be found in the bounty from her garden and the beautiful blooms of her flowers. When not busy in the kitchen or the garden, Gail enjoyed reading, sewing & crafting, and spoiling her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Survivors include her children, Linda Faye Newsom (Daniel) and Steve Ulmer all of Whigham, and Pat Cannon (Ricky) of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Alaina, Alyssa, Shane & Stephanie; her great-grandchild, Carson; her sister, Sue Collins of Cairo; and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her husband, John Ulmer; and her siblings, Barbara Lindsay, Wallace Hancock, and Michael Hancock.
