As the holiday season comes to a close, the local Scout troop’s first Christmas tree lot has also ended. The troops began selling the trees over the course of several weeks after Thanksgiving.
The Post-Searchlight spoke to Margueritte Jackson, Scoutmaster of the local Girl’s Troop, Cub Master of the local Cub Scout pack, and Assistant Scoutmaster of the Boy’s Troop, for more information about the lot. According to Jackson, the Scouts sold 180 trees in all, with the price varying between $50 to $135, depending on the tree. The Troops received the trees from a grower in North Carolina.
The money raised from the lot helps pay to send Scouts to camp, and Jackson stated the Scouts aim to expand their holiday festivities next year, with plans to have wreath-making workshops and “Santa Saturdays”.
“We’re grateful for the great support,” Jackson said, “we look forward to repeat customers next year.”
