Chris Hatcher, 60, of Dublin, VA passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at
First Baptist Church with Rev. Andrew Donalson officiating. Private interment will be at Oak City Cemetery with Curt Hatcher, Craig Hatcher, George Puckett, Mike Cole, and Tyler Cole serving as active pallbearers.

Leonard Christopher Hatcher was born August 6, 1963, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Duaine & Doris Hirrill Hatcher. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from Dillard University. He earned a Master of Science in Nursing Administration at Norwich University, and second Master of Science Forensic Nursing degree Duquesne University. Chris served in both the United States Navy and Army, retiring as a Major in the Army. He worked as assistant ER administrator for the VA Medical Center in Salem, Virginia. Chris married Bobbie Jo Shavers in 2011, and they made their home in Virginia. He grew up at First Baptist Church in Bainbridge.
Chris spent his life serving and caring for others. His nursing career took him all over the world. He served at duty stations with both the Navy and Army. His certifications ranged from Pediatric Advance Life Support to Trauma Nursing. Chris not only practiced nursing, but taught nursing. He was a compassionate man who spoke thoughtful and intentional words.
Chris had many passions, he enjoyed traveling especially to places near the ocean. He loved to fish and swim. He loved music and played various instruments including the piano. Chris loved nature especially wildlife. His dogs, cats and African Grey parrot (Nia) were cherished family members.
Survivors include his wife of twelve years, Bobbie Jo Shaver Hatcher; his mother, Doris Hatcher; his siblings, Curt Hatcher and wife Lynn of Bainbridge and Craig Hatcher and wife Julie of Boise, ID; his in-laws, Bobby & Judy Shaver; his nieces & nephews, Lindsay & Russell, Lee & Brandon, Allie, and Griffin; his great-nephews, Grady, Stetson, Hatcher, and Russ; his dogs, Deacon, Desi, and Demi; and his birds, Nia & Sunny. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Duaine Hatcher.
