The Bearcats pulled away late against Colquitt County to secure a 47-36 victory. 

Senior point guard AJ Grant slammed two dunks in the win and led the team with 15 points. The victory comes after a brutal 2-point loss to Shaw in double overtime on Saturday. 

“It felt good to get back into the win column,” said Bearcats head coach Kelvin Cochran. “We’re just trying to get to these region games.”

The Bearcats sit at a 13-8 regular season, 2-4 region record. The loss to Shaw served as their fourth region loss, putting them in fourth place in the region. If the standings hold, the fourth place seed would put the Bearcats in a play-in game vs Hardaway for a spot in the region tournament. 

They face the Hardaway in their next regular season bout. The away game tips off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 3.
