Bainbridge High School Sr. Forward Brock Williams has committed to the Clayton State Lakers in Morrow, Georgia. The Lakers finished last season with a record of 15-4-1, winning the Peach Belt Conference regular season championship and the tournament title. Clayton State finished the season ranked 16th in the Nation and was ranked as high as 4th during the season. 

Williams had multiple college offers but ultimately chose CSU based on Head Coach Pete Petersen. Coach Petersen has been the Head Coach since 2004 and has been named conference Coach of the year 6 times during his tenure. Williams said, “Coach Petersen’s attacking style of soccer made me think that I could fit into his system”. “CoachPetersen and the coaching staff made me feel welcome from the start of the recruiting process and wanted me to be a part of the program”.

Brock had a breakout year as a JR. at BHS, scoring 31 goals, leading all 60 teams in Region 4A in Georgia. Brock was named Region 1 4A offensive player of the year and to the first-team All-State roster. Brock was also chosen to the Georgia State All-Star team that consisted of players from 1A to 7A and was the second overall pick when teams were chosen. Brock is currently 13 goals shy of becoming the all-time leading goal scorer in BHS soccer history with this year’s season set to kick off the first week of February.

Brock is also a starting member of the Florida Elite Soccer Academy ECNL team, whose motto is “Relentless Pursuit of Excellence”. While playing with Florida Elite, Brock has had the opportunity to play all over the southeast US. Brock said his Florida Elite head coach, Eddie Foy and the rest of the coaching staff has prepared him to play at the next level. Brock would also like to thank BHS head coach Brian Hill for giving him the opportunity to succeed in the program. Brock said without his teammates, none of his success would be possible. Lastly, Brock would like to thank his older brother, former All Region 1 5A BHS Goalkeeper and Morgan County High School Assistant Men’s Soccer Head coach Bryce Williams. “Bryce never let me win at soccer growing up,” Williams said. “He helped make me the player I am today”.

Brock is the son of Garrett and Kathleen Williams.
