Bernice Louise Johnson was born June 28, 1923, in Moultrie, GA, the daughter of Paul & Annie Rentz Johnson. She married Clyde Alderman, and they eventually moved from Colquitt County to Bainbridge in 1968. Louise was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.
Louise joined the “centenarian club” last year with a resumé documenting years of good living. She was polite (never used ugly words or even thought them) and worked as a quiet disciple. Louise enjoyed her church involvement and certainly walked her talk. She was always the life of the party and could tell stories from years gone by you could hardly believe. Her outlook and attitude left you wondering how someone who had lived through so much could be so happy and content. Louise worked crossword puzzles, quilted, and exercised by swimming at the YMCA. Dairy Queen hamburgers topped her list of favorite foods.
Survivors include her children, Ann & Bill Gandy of Hahira and Jackie & Jean Alderman of Bainbridge; her son-in-law, Leonard Bennett; her grandchildren, Chad & Jan, Lisa & Peanut, Dawn & Craig, Stephen, Sherry & Greg, Jennifer & Marlin, Larry, and Sabrina & Ivin; her twenty great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and two great-greats on the way. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husbands, Clyde Alderman and Charlie Dell; her children, Brenda Alderman Burgess and Linda Alderman Bennett; her grandchildren, Keith Bennett, Terry Bennett, Chris Bennett, Wes Alderman, and Shane Burgess; and her siblings, Paul Johnson, George Johnson, Eugene Johnson, James Johnson, Tony Johnson, Raymond Johnson, Opal Asbell, Kathalene Alderman, and Betty Nolan.
