Members of the Bainbridge Rotary Club met for their weekly meeting at the Kirbo Center on Tuesday. Closing out this month’s lineup of speakers from Southern Regional Technical College was Christina Reneau, Director of Institutional Advancement.
Reneau spoke to the club about The Foundation at SRTC, the college’s non-profit organization. One way the Foundation supports SRTC, she explained, is through student scholarships, offering over 30 scholarships each semester.
“Scholarships are our biggest area of support,” she said. “We also help with funding campus expansion and growth,” she continued, stating that they support newly established buildings at the college.
“A lot of times when we have a new building that has to go up, we don’t receive 100% funding from the state on that, so the Foundation is there to support the college in that way, because any sort of donation would be a tax deduction for the individual or the business.”
Reneau would go on to discuss other ways the Foundation supports the college, including efforts to support adult education and working with community partnerships. She also explained how the board of directors and board of trustees work and interact together. Reneau would also show the club a video presentation, and stayed afterwards to answer any questions the club members might have.
