While Georgia did not lie in the path of totality for Monday’s solar eclipse, it was still possible to glimpse a sliver of the moon encroaching on the sun that day, with sunlight in the area dimming slightly.
The Southwest Georgia Regional Library System, having managed to acquire an order of eclipse glasses through Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries (SEAL), which were in short supply according to the library, held a viewing party at the Decatur County-Gilbert H. Gragg Library.
With the height of the eclipse being from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, parents brought their children, some from their homeschooling and others checked out of class, to the event; the library also offered crafts for the children.
