A Bainbridge resident was tragically killed on Saturday after being struck by a train. The resident, since identified as Charles Henry, was deaf-mute. According to Bainbridge Public Safety Chief Redell Walton, Henry was crossing the railroad tracks at the intersection of Albany Road and Back Street, walking around the lowered crossing arms. Walton added that a bystander reportedly attempted to get Henry’s attention.

According to Bainbridge Public Safety Captain Charles Strickland, camera footage captured the moment of collision with the train. Henry was life-flighted to Tallahassee, where he died from his injuries.

The rail company involved, CSX, is investigating the incident with the support of BPS.
