A company that has been around for over 100 years is now closing their doors nationwide: Badcock Home Furniture. The company started in 1904 and made it through many large historical moments in history, like the Great Depression, and the two World Wars. It is easy to blame our change in economy as the bad guy, but one of the large factors in businesses closing is Covid. This was due to the influx of people purchasing furniture and enhancing their homes whilst they were stuck in them for long periods of time during Covid. Which in turn was great for these businesses at the time, but unfortunately these businesses did not prepare for the extreme slowdown afterwards. Recently the company has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy that allows debtors to reorganize their finances and resolve financial difficulties with creditors. They have now posted on their websites a huge liquidation sale. Anyone who has driven past the local Badcock store, located on Shotwell Street, will have noticed signs announcing everything in the store is on sale, for anywhere from 30% to 50% off.
