Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Eleven members of the steering committee for the Bainbridge Walk to End ALZ held an initial meeting and kicked off plans for what promises to be a great community event to be held Saturday, October 19th on the Square.  Since 2017, over a quarter of a million dollars has been raised in Bainbridge to help spread awareness and find a cure.  The planned events would not be possible without business and industry sponsors, fundraising teams and individual participants.

First and foremost in the campaign are the Walk Teams.  Teams are the event foundation who participate and raise monies most often because Alzheimer’s has touched their lives in some way.  The stories they share are moving and their passion for the cause is evident. Fifteen teams have already registered.  If you want to host a team or find more information about Walk Teams, contact Missy Belcher at missythrives@gmail.com or (229) 205-1621.  Remember that in order to get a T-shirt mailed/received prior to the Walk, one must register and have raised a minimum of $100 by September 21, 2024.  To find out information about Walk Teams, events or opportunities for involvement contact Co-chairs Thea Burke (229) 220-6104 or Kathy Varner (229) 220-7160.

Another banner event in local fundraising efforts is the Golf Tournament to END ALZ. It’s back this year, is slated for October 4th and is guaranteed to be better than ever.  Rob McRae with Edward Jones is spearheading that event and can be reached at 229 243-0164.  Register fast to make certain you get in on the fun and prizes as those golf slots fill up quickly.

New this year is a Pickleball to END ALZ Tournament to be held September 27th and 28th at the YMCA courts.  Tim Thompson with Edward Jones (229 243-0164) is coordinating that event so be on the lookout for information about mixed doubles and gender doubles play.

Mark your calendar now with these important dates:

Purple Out/BHS Football Game – September 6

Pickleball Tournament – September 27 & 28

Golf Tournament – October 4

Walk to End Alzheimer’s – October 19

The Steering Committee applauds all walkers, volunteers, corporate sponsors, businesses who donate monies and merchandise and everyone who supports the Alzheimer’s mission.  Join the community on October 19th in the fight for a different future, for families facing the disease today and for additional time and treatments for those walking the rough road.  Bainbridge and Decatur County giving is simply the best!
