Melissa “Missy” Gay Faircloth Harrell, 56, of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away September 13, 2024, surrounded by her family.  Missy was born September 5, 1968 to Leo Faircloth and Linda Bell Faircloth. Missy, a native of Bainbridge, Georgia attended Bainbridge High School.  She graduated from Bainbridge State College with an Associate Degree in Accounting.

Missy married Glenn Harrell August 7, 1992.  She accepted the entire Harrell family as her own.  She always kept in touch through the years with her extended family.

Missy was employed for many years at Stones Building Supply and worked at Jones Wheat Elementary School.  She was an incredible cook and spent a lot of time in the kitchen preparing wonderful meals for her family. Missy delighted in fixing tailgate food for The Georgia Bulldog get togethers.  She loved the holidays especially all the food and festivities associated with Christmas.

Family was adored by Missy, especially her two granddaughters. Joy and excitement were heard in her voice when she talked about Wren and Elsie.  She always enjoyed traveling; her favorite places were the beach, lake cabins and the mountains.  One of her loves was spending time boating with Glenn on the river and sometimes fishing.  She enjoyed spending time with her mother having lunch, good conversation or just visiting.

From her early childhood, Missy loved her animals.  She always had dogs and cats in her house and her life.  She had a tender heart for animals, especially the ones that needed the most love and care.  There was never a time when she was without a loving dog, cat or both.

Missy was a woman of faith who spent time reading scriptures and Bible verses.  She was a member of the Morningside Baptist Church and leaves a legacy of loving the Lord.

She fought like a champion through multiple medical issues over the past several years.  She had come through several situations, but she didn’t let it get her down.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Glenn Harrell of Bainbridge, her son Dylan Harrell, his wife, Chelsea of Ochlocknee, her mother, Linda Faircloth of Bainbridge, her grandchildren Wrenleigh Jane Harrell and Elsie Lynn Harrell of Ochlocknee, her sister, Debbie Logue (Dennis) her brother Ricky Faircloth (Stephanie) all of Bainbridge, an aunt and uncle, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Missy was preceded in death by her father Leo Faircloth.

Services will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home with the Rev. Jamie McMillan officiating. Interment will follow the service in Blackjack Baptist Church Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Dylan Harrell, Ashley Kinchen, Jason Logue, Jared Humphrey, Donny Long, and Brad Cox.  The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM.
