Madeline Lois Betts was born February 22, 1920, in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Frank & Ollie Blair Betts. She was a graduate of Faceville High School. Madeline married Hughe D. White in 1940, and they spent 37 years living a life they enjoyed to the fullest. She served the community, making women feel beautiful and cared for, as a local Avon consultant for over 50 years. Madeline was a member of Franklin Baptist Church where she played piano for over 40 years. Later, Madeline became the designated pianist for Willow Ridge.
Her love for the Lord and others was evident in her daily life. Madeline faithfully shared the goodness of God and frequently put others first. Many can testify her happiest moments were results from being the quiet disciple as she filled a need, prayed a prayer, spoke a word of encouragement, or whatever she felt you needed at the moment.
She was a master in the kitchen and enjoyed nothing more than cooking for a gathering. (Her FOURTEEN-layer chocolate cake spoke for itself.) Family and friends knew, without a doubt, each was special in their own right. Friday nights were set aside for gathering with friends, and warm days under blue skies were perfect for catching a mess of fish.
Survivors include her children, Brenda White Cloud (Kenneth) of Bainbridge, and Randy White of Edisto Beach, SC; her daughter-in-law, Sara White of Walterboro, SC; her grandchildren, Gordon & Amy, Cameron & Lynn, Josh & Rebecca, and Hunter & Summer; and her great-grandchildren, Clay & Kayla, Will & Emily, Glenn, Dylan, Ann Hatcher, Betts, Cooper, and Penn. In addition to her parents, Madeline was preceded in death by her husband, Hughe D. White, and her siblings, Grace Lee, Charles Betts, Burwell Betts, and Lynn Betts.
