Roy Jerome Fewell Jr, 86, of Lexington, SC, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

Per Roy’s (RJ) wishes, his body was donated for science to the University of South Carolina with a memorial to be held at a later date.

Roy J. Fewell  Jr, known in town as RJ, was born August 28, 1938, in Climax, GA, the son of the late Roy J. Fewell and Ina McRae Fewell.

RJ proudly served in the United States Armed Forces, where he was stationed in Okinawa Military base, he then was transferred to Germany and stayed there as a civilian over 20 years enjoyed an exciting career in Radar and Computer Technology and life until his return to Climax in 1984. Roy was well known for his love for family, his high intelligence and helpfulness to others.

“RJ” loved to hike the Alps and Ski in Europe, he had a passion for reading, fishing and adventures with Dianne.

He built his own computer in the basement and tried to teach his 10 year old daughter how to write code for the famous Pong computer game. He also loved to play Go game tournaments in the local areas of Europe.

Committed to his wife and family, Roy will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Dianne Larson Fewell; his daughter, Suzanne Koehlke (Mark) of Greensboro, NC; his stepdaughters, Jennifer Williams Blackhurst of West Columbia, SC, Katherine Williamson (Mike) of Aiken, SC; his grandchildren Johanna Burleson (Baylen), Larson Blackhurst, Chase Williamson; and his siblings Ray Fewell, Kenneth Fewell (Ruth), Steve Fewell (Vickie), Debra Valente (Danny). In addition to his parents, RJ was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Logue.
