Sherry Ellison is set to retire from Little Blessings on December 27, after approximately 20 years of dedicated service in various roles at the childcare center. Her journey began as an assistant teacher, later moving to the kitchen to prep food, and ultimately becoming the director. Throughout her career, she has known about 150 employees and interacted with 1,100 children, witnessing many of them grow up, start careers, and have families of their own.

On December 10, the staff at Little Blessings held a party to celebrate Ellison’s retirement. Reflecting on her time at the center, Ellison shared, “I will miss all of the awesome ladies working here. They’re so good. I’m going to miss them.” She mentioned her plans to relax and spend time with her family during retirement. Additionally, if she decides to return to work, Ellison plans to take a part-time position at the YMCA as a front desk clerk and assist with the Food Assistance Program.

Julia Phillips will succeed Ellison as the new director. Expressing her thoughts on the transition, Phillips said, “I feel nervous. Whenever you do something new and don’t feel nervous, I question it. I’m excited at the same time also. It’s not scared, nervous, but nervous excitement of all we’re going to do for the daycare and our community.”
