This past Saturday, the Firehouse Arts Center held a Sketchbook Pin-Up Show. The Sketchbook Pin-Up Show is a community event where artists of all ages can auction their artwork. Chelsea Kornse, Director of the Firehouse Arts Center, described the event as a way to unite the community.
She said, “The event is a fun way to be a part of the Jazz and Blues festival and celebrate the arts. We want to encourage people to create and know they can also receive something in return for giving back their inspiration.”
She continued, “Everyone thinks art is just painting or drawing, but in many different forms. From cooking to music to painting, drawing, photography, etc. This is a way to celebrate multiple art forms.”
The center received 400 submissions of sketch work. The cost of each sketch work depends on the artist, but the range is from $3 to $20. Overall, the event was a success as many people gathered, viewed, and bought their favorite sketch works.
