On a bright and chilly morning at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta, three members of the Bainbridge FFA chapter—Elizabeth Adams, Jayden Brown, and Gamble Tabb—had the opportunity to attend FFA Day at the Capitol, an event designed to empower future leaders in agriculture. The day was packed with engaging activities, including the FFA Legislative Breakfast and a tour of the Senate and House buildings, where the students learned about the legislative process and the importance of agricultural policy.
The day kicked off with the FFA Legislative Breakfast, where FFA members from across the state gathered to discuss their goals and challenges with lawmakers. For Gamble, attending the breakfast was particularly enlightening. “It was an amazing experience to share our insights on agricultural issues that affect our communities,” he said. Jayden echoed this, adding, “It’s not every day you get to speak directly with those who help shape the laws and policies affecting agriculture in Georgia.”
After breakfast, the Bainbridge FFA members toured the Senate and House buildings, where they were introduced to various representatives. Elizabeth remarked, “Standing in the chambers where important discussions happen was inspiring. It made me realize our role in advocating for agriculture in our state.”
The experience at the Capitol enriched the Bainbridge FFA members’ understanding of agriculture policy and highlighted the importance of civic engagement. The students left the event feeling empowered and motivated to make a difference in their community.
In conclusion, the Bainbridge FFA members exemplified the spirit of leadership and advocacy during FFA Day at the Capitol. Engaging with lawmakers and industry leaders broadened their horizons and laid the groundwork for a brighter future in agriculture. As they return to their chapter, they are eager to share their experiences and inspire their peers to take an active role in agricultural issues.
