Sheppard signs new contract with Titans

Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Malcolm Sheppard, the son of Ricky and Evelyn Sheppard of Bainbridge, has signed a new one-year contract with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans.
Sheppard, a former Bainbridge Bearcats All Region 1-AAAA defensive end, was the defensive player of the year and a team captain with the University of Arkansas Razorbacks as a senior in 2009.
He was one of Georgia’s top 100 prospects as a senior, under former Bearcats head coach Greg Guy. As a senior, he had 64 tackles, 15 sacks and one interception in 11 games. He was a two time All-SEC performer at Arkansas.
During his four seasons with the Razorbacks, he had 36 tackles for a loss and 9.5 sacks. With the Titans in 2011, Sheppard appeared in 13 games and had 16 tackles, two quarterback pressures and one tackle for a loss.
As a senior at Arkansas, he started all 13 games and had 33 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, two quarterback sacks, four quarterback hurries, three pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
Following his high school career, Sheppard chose to sign with Arkansas over Southern Mississippi, South Carolina, South Florida, Alabama-Birmingham, East Carolina and Central Florida.
