Interim County Administrator Gary Breedlove said that County EMS Director Bill Hogan was injured in a single-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon — an accident that involved his county-issued vehicle.

Breedlove said Hogan’s vehicle, which is a county-issued SUV used by the EMS director, struck a mailbox on State Route 91 North, just inside the southern portion of Dougherty County, sometime between noon and 1 p.m. Saturday. Breedlove said Hogan was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Ga., but was released late Saturday evening.

Breedlove said that Hogan is currently on medical leave. He said the damage to the vehicle was “minimal,” and that EMS employees were able to drive it back to the county’s EMS headquarters.
Breedlove reportedly spoke to Hogan on Sunday afternoon.

“[Hogan] told me that the last thing he could remember was talking to his wife on Friday evening,” Breedlove said. “He couldn’t remember anything past that.”

Breedlove said the county was still waiting to receive reports on the crash, from the Dougherty County Police Department and Dougherty County EMS. Breedlove also stated that he was unaware of any already-scheduled conference or meeting that Hogan might have been traveling to.

“Our first concern right now is his health,” Breedlove said.

Hogan’s EMS director vehicle contains some rudimentary first-response equipment, but is not as equipped as a full ambulance. Breedlove said Hogan can use the vehicle to respond to an emergency quickly, in some situations.
