The Northside-Warner Robins High School Eagles scored seven runs in the top of the sixth inning Friday at Bearcat Field to break open a close game on the way to an 11-1 Region 1-AAAA victory over the Bainbridge High School Bearcats.
It was senior night and the Bearcats’ final home game of the season. Senior Bearcats players and Diamond Dolls were honored in pregame ceremonies.
The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Jesus Monserrat reached on an error to open the inning. Right hander Jordon Massey then struck out Jack Montgomery for the first out.
After Cole McArthur reached on an error, he was thrown out attempting to steal second. Monsarrat came in with the first run when Hunter Bobbitt was safe on an error. Ethan Broome then doubled to left, driving in Bobbitt with the Eagles’ second run.
The Bearcats bounced back with a run in the bottom of the first to cut it to 2-1. Right fielder Michael Faircloth beat out an infield hit to third base to open the inning.
Faircloth moved around to third when designated hitter Jake Goodson lined a one-out single to right, and came in to score on a fielder’s choice.
Northside added a run in the second inning and another run in the fifth inning to take a 4-1 lead, before breaking the game open in the sixth. Key blows in the sixth-inning rally were a two-run single by McArthur and a two-run double by Jordan Red.
