Adam Schrott, of Fort Myers, Fla., has been hired as the new CEO at the Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA. He will begin serving his new position Tuesday, May 1.
In a press release, Charles S. Bowles Jr., the president of the YMCA’s Board of Directors, announced that Schrott had accepted the board’s unanimous offer.
“We’re very excited at the effort put forth by our Search Committee, chaired by Ms. Glennie Bench, and their exhaustive efforts to interview over a dozen candidates prior to making the final recommendations,” Bowles said. “We could not have made a bad decision if we had selected any one of the top candidates identified by our volunteer committee, and we are very pleased about Adam’s acceptance of our offer.”
Mike Haynes, who has served as interim CEO since September 2011, said Schrott would be a great fit for the position.
“We are thrilled to get him to Bainbridge, as he will be a perfect fit for the skills needed at the YMCA, and will blend well into the community,” Haynes said.
Schrott will bring an extensive background in the YMCA movement to his new post as the local YMCA’s CEO. He has served from entry-level to CEO-level positions in his 15-year professional career with YMCAs in South Florida.
Schrott is the son of a 40-year retired YMCA CEO and has grown up understanding the importance of every member and every area of service touched by YMCA staff and volunteers, Bowles said.
