National Day of Prayer observed locally

A small gathering of the faith community gathered in Willis Park Thursday at noon to mark the local observance of the 61st National Day of Prayer. The service was organized by Episcopal Priest Marcia McRae, in cooperation with the Bainbridge Ministerial Association.
The service had a distinct ecumenical flavor, as participants from several faiths offered prayers in specific categories and different languages.
The Rev. McRae gave a welcome and prayer in Spanish and Dr. Ray Chambers of Temple Beth-El recited, in Hebrew, a prayer for peace that was initially written by a Ukranian Rabbi.
Music was led by Art Bruce, minister of music at First Baptist Church.
