Bainbridge High School Bearcats baseball players are demonstrating their talents both on and off the field.
On March 23, seven Bearcats players began a reading mentoring program at John Johnson Elementary School in which they read to three different classes.
This past Wednesday, they were at Elcan-King Elementary School. They will be rotating to different elementary schools each Wednesday, BHS baseball player Coach Scott Miller said.
Taking part in the reading mentoring program are junior infielder and outfielder Trevor Watts, senior second baseman Sutton Reece, senior infielder and right-handed pitcher Ryan Wade, senior catcher Drew Kelley, junior infielder and right-handed pitcher Jordan Cox, senior center fielder Stephen Lightfoot and senior first baseman and left-handed pitcher Thomas Timmons.
Bearcats head coach Scott Miller talked about the pride he has for the players, who have become involved in the program.
“We want our players to be winners on and off the field,” Miller said. “I am very proud of our players who are involved in the reading mentoring program. The time they spend reading to the elementary school children are truly special moments.”
