Margie Sigman and her granddaughter, Diamond, of the Climax/Pine Forest community are celebrating Easter all over their front yard.

While the theme of Easter is abundant throughout the yard, the most impressive is Margie’s Cotton Ball Tree.

“I got that tree as a young sapling about 10 or 12 years ago from a nursery in Bainbridge,” she recalls.

The tree is taller than her housetop and is in full bloom with white clusters hanging from all limbs, representing its name in fine fashion.

Also decorating the yard is a tulip tree, and according to Margie, it had just finished blooming. Dogwood trees were also blooming. Amaryllis beds were just beginning to shine with all the colors of the rainbow.

One large tropical plant was given to Margie by her mother many years ago, and she did not know the name, but protects it every year from the cold and it returns her attention by renewing each spring. Other beds held a variety of cactus, and even a bed of herbs including garlic.

Greeting one as they enter the driveway is a royal purple-draped cross reminding all the reason for celebrating this wonderful season of the year.

Just for granddaughter Diamond is Mr. Easter Bunny with an overpowering amount of large Easter eggs as he prepares to hop down the Easter trail.

Climax High School Alumni Reunion

Ham and Egg Supper

The annual Ham and Egg Supper to benefit Cedar Grove Cemetery will be held in Climax on Thursday, April 21, beginning at 5 p.m. on the Swine Time grounds at the chitling barn. Plates of grits, eggs, biscuits, ham or sausage, and gravies will be served for a $7 donation to Cedar Grove Cemetery. One may dine in or carry out.
