A Bainbridge man was arrested Friday evening, after another man was injured in a shooting on Broughton Street.

The incident took place shortly before 8 p.m. at 1001 Broughton St. Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Toby Miller arrived to find the victim sitting on the front porch, holding his side and bleeding from a wound to his left side. Witnesses stated they did not see anything, but only heard a shot and found the victim wounded.

Miller and Investigator Ryan Deen went to the emergency room at Memorial Hospital to talk with the victim, who stated a man later identified as Steve Donald Addison, 17, a.k.a. “Stevo,” of 808 E. Sharpe St., had shot him with a small handgun.

Sgt. Marvin Knight was familiar with Addison and found out he was located at 821 Hall St., where Addison was taken into investigative custody shortly after 9 p.m.

Deen learned that another man, who was also interviewed and later released, had allegedly given the firearm to Addison. However, the weapon was not found on the persons of Addison or the other man.

Addison was charged with aggravated assault.

 

Car break-ins reported off Gordon Avenue

Several car break-ins and thefts were reported in a neighborhood off Gordon Avenue, south of Shotwell Street, on June 20.

On June 20, a resident of the 1600 block of Pine Street reported that someone had taken the face plate off her car stereo sometime during the previous night.

That same day, a resident of an apartment complex at 710 Gordon Ave. reported that, when she went to get in her car that morning, she saw all of its contents scattered about. The only thing she noticed missing was the face plate of the car stereo.

Another resident of the same apartment complex reported that her car was also broken into and her car stereo was stolen. Fifteen dollars and a pair of Nike shoes were also taken.

Copper wiring taken from old K-Mart

A person authorized to check on the closed K-Mart building at 1615 E. Shotwell Street uncovered damage outside the building, which was reported on June 20.

Five air conditioning units, which were located on the building’s roof, were found torn apart and the copper tubing inside them had been stripped.
