School is almost out, the weather’s warming up, and that means on thing … it’s time to hit the pool!
The Aquatic Center is set to officially open on Saturday, May 20.
The Leisure Services staff is working hard to get the pool ready and is already scheduling swim lessons and parties.
For ages 6 to 49, the cost for a one-day pass is $4. For ages 5 and under and 50 and over, the cost is $2. You can also buy season passes for both individuals and families. Visit the city’s website to find out information and to learn more about the pool’s hours, groups, rentals and more!
May is Historic Preservation month.
To celebrate, there will be Ice Cream Social at Willis Park on Tuesday, May 24, at 6:30 p.m. There, the Main Street Office will recognize Cornerstone Businesses, those who have been in the downtown area for 25 years or more, as well as façade grant recipients. The public is invited, so come support and thank our downtown businesses!
Start making plans now for July 4! The city has booked its entertainment, Fly By Radio. The band is a 1980s and ’90s rock band that includes four great performers and a huge light show. Fly By Radio become one of the biggest draws in the Southeast, and performs hits from Bon Jovi, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Michael Jackson, Guns N’ Roses and more! The show will begin at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, July 4, and will be followed by Southwest Georgia’s largest fireworks display. Don’t miss the fun!
