A 29-year-old woman found dead in her mobile home last Wednesday was strangled to death, according to Bainbridge Public Safety.

BPS Major Robert Humphrey, who is in charge of investigations, said Roberta Denise Clay’s death is now being investigated as a homicide.

An autopsy was conducted last Thursday; BPS received the results on Friday and learned Clay died of strangulation, Major Humphrey said.

Clay’s body was found at approximately 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning in her residence at Pinecrest Mobile Home Park, located off Fowlstown Highway / Georgia 309 South.

Humphrey said Clay was found by a female cousin who stayed with her Monday-Thursday. Last Tuesday night, the cousin had went to another house to do laundry and upon returning Wednesday morning, found Clay deceased, Humphrey said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting BPS with the investigation into Clay’s death. GBI agents and the GBI’s mobile crime scene unit looked around the mobile home park Wednesday. Humphrey said forensic evidence is currently being processed.
