Luncheon ‘thank-yous’
Published 12:40 pm Tuesday, October 6, 2009
A great big “Thank you” to each person who helped make the third annual Breast Cancer luncheon a huge success on Saturday, Sept. 26, at First Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall.
Many people lent their support for the event. First, there was the breast cancer facilitator, Linda Long, and the support group who meet the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at Memorial Hospital.
Thanks also goes to all of the businesses who donated gifts for door prizes, purchased tickets, pink ribbons or made cash donations; including Ken Markham at Kres Jewelers for providing the raffle gift.
Thanks to First Baptist Church for the use of their fellowship hall and also to their janitor. Thanks to the caterer, Jackie Willis and crew, as well as the high school students who served us. Thanks to the models who participated in the fashion show and to Theresa Hall and Belk’s for their help and clothes.
Thanks also goes to our entertainers, Lindsay and Frances Gay, and pianist Lynda Smith, as well as sound person Janice Eakin and to our photographer.
Thanks also to American Cancer Society representative Beth Zotyka and to Mary Jane Holt, who was our speaker.
Last, but not least, each of you who attended. You had or have known someone who had breast cancer and we appreciate your support.
Men and women, please do your monthly breast check and also keep your annual medical exam. If you hear the dreaded words, “You have cancer,” please feel free to contact Linda Long at 246-8846 or any support group member.
