Funeral services for Betty Jean Howard Brown, 71, of Bainbridge, were held Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Pleasant Hill M.B. Church in Eldorendo, with the Rev. Willie Williams officiating. Interment was in Whites Bridge Cemetery with Samuel Adkins, Chris Levens, Darrell Johnson, Odell Washington, Greg Sparkman, and Thomas Jackson III acting as pallbearers.
Mrs. Brown was born Dec. 24, 1940, in Decatur County, and died July 29, 2012, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
She attended Hutto High School and later received her GED. She worked as a nursing assistant at Griffin Hospital and Clinic, then at the Williamson & Dickies Co. for 26 years, before retiring from the State Hospital after 10 years of employment.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; children, Anthony and Sarah; parents, Shelly and Hattie Howard; brothers, John Levens, Farrie Howard, Wallie Howard Sr. and a sister, Carrie Mae Howard.
Survivors include sons Larry D. Brown Sr. (Christine) of Syracuse, N.Y., Stevie S. Brown (Taryn) of Bainbridge; daughter, Marie D. Jones (Gerald) of Bainbridge; brother, Nathan Howard (Edith) of Syracuse; sisters, Mattie Cruise of Miami, Fla., and Armie Watts of Syracuse; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and special friends.
Bruton Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
