Shirley Davis Hodges

Mrs. Shirley Davis Hodges, beloved wife for 53 years of Dr. T.I. Hodges, entered into rest on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time. There will be a private family burial at Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hodges was born in Bainbridge, and had made Augusta her home for the last 49 years. She attended Mercer University, where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She worked as a legal secretary for Spalding, Sibley Law and an office manager in her husband’s dental office before retiring, and enjoyed traveling with her family.

She was a member of the Junior League of Augusta, Historic Augusta, Wood Valley Garden Club, the University Hospital Volunteers, and Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, Dr. T.I. Hodges, she is survived by her daughters, Pam Robertson (Sterling), Cindy Warne (Jeff) and Fran West (Brooks); a brother, Stan Davis (Tina); her seven grandchildren, Morgan and Trey Robertson, Jessica, Lindsay and Sam Warne, and Joe and Cooper Anderson; as well as a brother-in-law, Dr. Dan Hodges (Linda).

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wood Valley Garden Club.

If desired, memorials may be made to the Nehemiah Project at Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, 1330 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta, GA, 30904 or to the charity of one’s choice.
