Lady Pirates edge Lady Cats 3-2

The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats softball team dropped a 3-2 home decision to the Miller County High School Lady Pirates here Tuesday.
The Lady Cats had a 13-11 record after Friday’s Region 1AAAAA final home and regular season game against Columbus’s Hardaway High School Lady Golden Hawks, which the Lady Cats won 10-3.
The Lady Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first Tuesday on a double, a sacrifice and an error.
The Lady Cats bounced back with a run in the bottom of the second to pull even 1-1. It was scored by shortstop Maegan Harrison who was hit by a pitch. She came in on a clutch two out single by right fielder Morgan Phillips.
The Region 1AAAAA Tournament will be Tuesday through Friday at Lee County High School in Leesburg. Opening day opponents and game times are to be determined.
The Lady Pirates added single runs in the third and fourth innings to pull out front 3-1.
Two errors and a fielder’s choice produced the third inning run and a single, an error and a fielder’s choice produced the fourth inning run.
The Lady Cats scored their second run in the bottom of the sixth inning. It was scored by third baseman Caitlin Cato who reached on an error.
