Bainbridge Public Safety has arrested four people in connection with two recent burglaries, one involving stolen guns.

Aaron Allen Jones, 17, of 170 Ward Road, and a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested on Monday, Oct. 1, and charged with burglary. Octavious Powell, 18, of 3741 Fowlstown Road, and Charles Edwin Freeman, 35, of 1015 E. Broughton St., were both arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Powell was charged with burglary while Freeman was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and theft by receiving stolen property.

On Tuesday, Sept. 25, BPS responded to a call at 1202 College St. The residents reported that three rifles, a laptop and come jewelry had been stolen. Residents in the area witnessed three black males carrying firearms running down the street.

On Monday, Oct. 1, BPS responded to a burglary at 1500 Martin Luther King Drive. Investigators were able to determine that a juvenile had broken into this residence by throwing a brick through a window. Witnesses saw a young black male running from the residence after trying to take a television, causing a neighbor to chase after him and aid police in their search.

The juvenile was arrested a short time after and was brought to BPS headquarters for questioning. He confessed to both burglaries and also told officers that Jones and Powell were with him during the burglary on College Street.

Investigators learned that the three had left the residence on College Street and gone to Freeman’s home, where they gave Freeman the stolen guns and he later sold them. BPS has since recovered the firearms, as well as the laptop that was stolen from the residence on College Street.

It was not immediately known whether the three suspects were involved with any other burglaries.

The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office assisted with these investigations.

• Sept. 26, 300 block of Independent Street, bicycle taken and GPS unit stolen from car;

• Sept. 24, 900 block of Stewart Avenue, TV taken;

• Sept. 24, 500 South McNair Street, work items, tooks and golf clubs taken from vehicle.
