Manor residents get early Christmas presents

Residents at Memorial Manor were surprised to get a Christmas present early this year.
On Wednesday afternoon, employees with the Teresa D. Young Foundation and Bainbridge Housing Authority visited the Manor to hand out gifts to the residents. The gifts were throw blankets, which were purchased from Belk, thanks to a donation from Ben Chason.
Teresa Chason added that Belk provided gift wrapping for the dozens of throw blankets.
This is the second year that the Foundation and Authority have handed out the throw blankets to nursing home residents. Last year, they were given to residents at Bainbridge Healthcare, and local children volunteered their time to hand out the gifts.
Chason said that children unfortunately weren’t able to volunteer this year, because they were still in school Wednesday. She said the plan is to hand out the gifts to a different nursing home each year.
Those who handed out the throw blankets were Tommy Willis, Misty Young, Crissy Young, Teresa Chason and Lorie Connell.
