Sophomore center Patra Parris poured in a game high 16 points Friday, leading the Bainbridge High School Lady Cats to a 42-13 Georgia-Florida Shooout victory over the visiting Wakulla (Fla.) Lady War Eagles.
The Lady Cats were in control all the way. They led 17-0 at the end of the first quarter and 19-3 at halftime.
A three-point jumper by forward Longeisha Emanuel, with 38 seconds left in the third quarter, sent the Lady Cats to the fourth quarter with a 40-7 lead.
Just behind Parris in the Lady Cats’ scoring column were Emanuel with nine points, and point guard Dixie Landy with seven.
“Everything seemed to come together for us tonight,” Bainbridge head coach Kelvin Cochran said after the game. “We played strong defense and offensively we moved the ball around and got open looks. We are young, but we are getting better.
“Our starting five includes four sophomores and a junior. When you are that young, you are going to make mistake, and we just have to play through them and get better.”
The Lady Cats, who hosted the Thomasville High School Lady Bulldogs in a regular season game Tuesday, will play in Thomasville’s Holiday Hoopfest Tournament Thursday, Dec. 27, through Saturday, Dec. 29.
